Poetry in praise of/ prayer to Sri Sri Sri
Chandrasekharendrasaraswati Swami, the seer who was known as Paramacharya or
Periyavar and was the legendary head of Sri Kamakoti Math of Kaancheepuram.
These verses were authored by Bramhasri Paturi Sitaramanjaneyulu garu who was
an intimate disciple of Sri Paramacharya and used to have a supernatural
communication with him
1.karuṇā para paryāya kaṭākṣa prasr̥ti prabhaḥ
cittasya śāṁti dātā mē hr̥di syāt caṁdraśēkharaḥ
Meaning: The light spread from his holiness Sri
Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati’s
gracious side-glance is another form of single-minded
kindness. He is a giver of peace of
mind. May He reside in my heart.
2.kāmēśa tattva sarvasva kalanāmala mānasaḥ
amr̥tātmā samātmā mē hr̥di syāt caṁdraśēkharaḥ
Meaning: His holiness Sri Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati’s heart
is pure, filled with
the complete spirit of 'Kames'a' ( propounded in the
Tantras/Sri Vidya ).His self is
equivalent of what is called as 'Amritaatmaa'('the
immortal self'' / 'celestially sweet self '
propounded in the Upaishads ). May He reside in my heart.
3.dakṣiṇā cinmayī mūrtiḥ yasya viśvāti śāyinī
dakṣiṇāmūrti rūpō mē hr̥di syāt caṁdraśēkharaḥ
Meaning: His holiness Sri
Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati’s south-
faced/benevolently smiling,
knowledge-filled spiritual form is super-cosmic. He is( for this
reason) none other than Lord
Dakshinamurty. May He reside in my heart.
4.niraṁtara nirālaṁba niraṁjana mahōmayaḥ
māyāvr̥ti matītō mē hr̥di syāt caṁdraśēkharaḥ
Meaning: His holiness Sri Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati (in
his spiritual form) is
(spatially and temporally) continuous, is without (a need
of )a support, who is blemishless , is
filled with cosmicity and (as distinct from common selves
and the normal reality which
are covered by Maya) is beyond the Maya's cover. May He
reside in my heart.
5. ēkāmrēśēna kāmākṣyā śrutimātrā satā citā
parēṇābhinna rūpō mē hr̥di syāt caṁdraśēkharaḥ
Meaning: His holiness Sri Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati
is not different from:
- Lord
Ekamreswara, the deity enshrined in Kancheepuram,
- Goddess
Kamakshi, another deity enshrined in Kancheepuram,
- Goddess
Gayatri who is the mother of the Vedas,
- 'Sat' (
meaning 'Existence' to which reality ultimately boils down according to
Upanishads ) ,
- 'Chit'
(meaning 'Knowledge' to which reality ultimately boils down according to
Upanishads )
- 'Para' (meaning 'Beyond everything' to which reality ultimately boils down according to Upanishads)
